St. Vincent -
MASSEDUCTION
Straight out of the
sleeve, this record is an instant classic.
Bizarre, creative, and clear signs that St. Vincent is able and willing
to evolve.
Waxahatchee - Out in
the Storm
I have been loving
watching Katie Crutchfield develop from a talented young songwriter to a confident
and powerful artist. Crutchfield twin 1 of 2 in my top 10 this year.
Run the Jewels - RTJ
3
Saw them live twice
this year, on top of countless, countless dance sessions in the kitchen after
happy hour listening to this album.
Alvvays -
Antisocalites
Another band on the
list who I thought was decent prior to this year's offering turning out a
great, great record.
Langhorne Slim -Lost
at Last
This one is a bit of
an outlier for me. I don't listen to a
lot of the folky, singer songwriter stuff these days, but this record grabbed
me from track one.
Alison Crutchfield-
Tourist in This Town
Crutchfield twin 2 of
2 on my top 10! Alison and Katie
Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) both worked on each others albums in addition to
their own solid efforts.
The Courtneys - II
Super fun and simple,
totally grabs you and holds on for weeks at a time.
Geotic - Abysma
Since much of my music
consumption occurs in an office setting (no headphones, my suite-mates and I
all listen to the same stuff on a speaker), my tastes have definitely started
becoming influence by work-appropriateness.
Think unintrusive, pleasant coffee shop music. Geotic fills this role perfectly
Heaters - Matterhorn
Favorite psych-rock
album of the year.
W.H. Lung -
Inspiration/Nothing Is EP
This album is only 2
songs, but both are really, really good.

As I mentioned on the main list, I love the Waxahatchee album. Going to have to check out Alison Crutchfield's album next.
