Sam Roberts - Love At The End Of The World (2008)
I've been a fan of Sam Roberts' melodic 70's rock ever since finding his first album in the dollar bin a couple years ago. It's not edgy or complicated, but it's perfect for road trips or when I wish I was on one. Like a Canadian Ocean Colour Scene, Roberts mines classic rock radio for feel good rock 'n roll. It's familiar, comfortable, and satisfiying. He wouldn't be able to pull it off if he didn't write good songs with catchy hooks, singalong choruses and chugging guitar riffs. Even when he plugs in and rips out a couple power chords, he never loses his warm pop sound. While neither this or his previous follow up have reached the same highs as We Were Born In a Flame it's still a solid album and worth picking up. Check out "End Of The Empire", "Them Kids" and "Stripmall Religion" for a quick taste.

I love that album cover! I wonder if it's original artwork by Roberts himself.
I really liked the title song as well as Detroit '67.
Sam Roberts is always good times!
Yeah, the whole album is so solid. Some people call his music meat and potatoes rock, I guess because it's basic, classic and good, but that analogy doesn't really work for me since I rarely eat those two together. Pasta carbonara is my go to dinner, so maybe it should be pasta rock.
Damn. I haven't had Pasta carbonara in a long time... for dayzzzz. Are you getting in touch with your questionable Italian roots?
Pasta rock? For me it would be Stir Fry Rock.
I have a bone to pick with you, Awmercy. How could you not stress how amazing Sam Roberts is. I just heard "Them Kids" randomly tonight (never heard a S.R. band song in my life) and fucking LOVED it. Wow. I wish you'd pushed harder how amazing they were, I would've checked this record out way way earlier!!!
Whatever.
You should check out his first album when you've worn his new one out.
And see him live.
Whatever? lol, relax, I def. wasn't hating. I'm just annoyed I didn't jump on these tunes earlier.
I'm not sure a live show will be available anytime soon, but I def. can't wait to absorb this discography! Thanks for sharing this one.
